To Marriage, A Great Institution ...but who wants to live in an institution?

I was just reading about the U.S. Supreme Court case, Loving v. Virginia. This decision will strike down all state laws prohibiting interracial marriage. Three cheers for justice and equality!

I was appalled to find out that some states still had these laws on the books! You cannot help who you fall in love with — all you can ask for is a loving partner who will be there for you. Marriage is a sacred institution and it should not be taken lightly. Therefore, it is important that you find the right person that you wish to spend the rest of your life with. There are only two people in a marriage, not the disapproving populace.

Legal discrimination is an outrage and it needs to be stricken from the law books. This is America and everyone should treated equally under the eyes of the law. And the fact that people years ago created these laws to make themselves feel superior is disgusting. These are the same people who would love to rewrite the Bill of Rights (or throw it in the fire). We are not a perfect nation, but we should be a nation that learns from its mistakes.

So, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Loving! You will always be remembered for your love and courage in the face of adversity.

“… and I’m feelin’ good!”

I am quoting from the great song, “Feelin’ Good,” sung by the great Nina Simone and more recently, Adam Lambert on American Idol. I am starting a new project and I am feeling really good about it.

I have decided to start an online diary or better known as a “blog” (a blog sounds like a monster from a horror movie – “Watch out! The BLOG is coming for you!!”). I have many retro and vintage things to share with the world and I would like you to join me on this journey. I will be covering many topics – fashion, cars, film, television, music and anything else that catches my fancy!

“Who are you,” you ask? Well, darlings, my name is Rosalind Hancroft and I live in the fabulous past when life was “swell!” For more sordid details, please go to the “About Me” page – I am quite the “character!”

So pack your luggage (ladies, don’t forget your hat boxes)! Prepare to travel back in time and add a touch of retro to your life!
