Harvey

Steven Spielberg is set to remake the classic movie “Harvey,” the story of a man who claims to have an invisible 6-foot rabbit friend. Casting is not set, but studio execs expect the film to open late next year.

James Stewart starred in the original 1950 film as the lovable eccentric, Elwood P. Dowd. Josephine Hull won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role as Veta Louise Simmons. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize play by Mary Chase.

TCM Tomorrow: An American in Paris (1951)

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Back home everyone said I didn’t have any talent. They might be saying the same thing over here but it sounds better in French.

This is one of my favorite films! Starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, and Oscar Levant, it’s the story of an American painter who must choose between the patronage of a rich American woman (Nina Foch) and a French girl (Leslie Caron) engaged to a cabaret singer. The best part is the final dance sequence (17 minutes long) that depicts the mental battle going through the mind of Jerry Mulligan (Gene Kelly).

This is a film you MUST see! “S’ Wonderful!”

Note: By the way, there was a recent write-up about Oscar Levant in Newsweek.
